If our apartment caught fire, I probably wouldn’t save my copies of my 365 books from 2009 and 2010 because (a) my hands would be full with the kid and the cat, (b) 15 flights of stairs would be hard enough to run down already, and (c) I know I could just order another copy from my favorite digital scrapbook publishing website.  I love that about digital scrapbooking.  No muss, no fuss, no tears (if you back up your files).

I took a break from Project 365 in 2011 for a number of reasons (for exhibit A, see the previous post).  But I missed it.  Still, I was on the fence come January 1.  On the one hand, I was starting to see post-dissertation life on the horizon and I enjoy recording the everyday joys of it through 365 projects.  On the other hand, these projects are time consuming and time’s a commodity I run short on nowadays and, oh yeah, I still didn’t actually have the degree in hand.  I figured I would be too distracted to remember to take pictures most days, and that the days I did remember, I’d just end up taking photos of the same old thing.  Since our life is much more routine now than it was in 2009 and 2010 when we were living abroad and all.  (Little did I know that this would quickly turn out to be a highly eventful year!)

But I started in anyway with the picture taking, figuring I could always just stop taking daily pictures if I grew tired of it or forgot too often.  I could just catch up later on the digiscrapping part of it when things grew calmer.

Calmer isn’t exactly the right word for things now, but I have started in on the digiscrapping part of my 365 project.  I’ll post updates HERE.
